Choosing a Charity

One of the five pillars of Islam is Zakat (almsgiving), which requires Muslims to donate a certain amount of money to charity every year. Many Muslims choose to donate above and beyond the announced Zakat every year as a gesture of goodwill and a cleansing ritual. But how do you choose who to give your Zakat to?
